Axion Mega Test Part 1: Image Quality for Identification

In this first test we present unedited footage from the Axion XM30F, alongside the Axion 2 XQ35 and Axion 2 XG35 at close range, so you can compare the image quality that helps you identify animals or people. We show a number of different warm and cold objects, and explain what’s going on for each Axion as we adjust some of their settings.

Axion Mega Test Part 2: Long Range Detection

In this second test we present unedited footage from all three devices at long range – over 500m! You’ll be able to compare the image quality that helps you detect people or animals the size of a rabbit across a couple of fields. You’ll see a number of different warm objects, and we’ll explain what’s going on for each Axion as we adjust some of their settings and test out their digital zoom.

Axion Mega Test Part 3: Maximum Range Detection

In this third test, we present unedited footage from all three devices taken from a huge range of almost 1400m! n theory that’s beyond what some of these units should be able to detect… but we put them to the test so you can compare the image quality at the limits of being able to detect a man-sized object.

Axion Mega Test Part 4: Identification at Long Range

In the fourth and final test, we present a real-time, side-by-side comparison of the three devices, demonstrating how each model achieves enough detail to safely identify what you see through the viewfinder; whether that’s distinguishing a fox from a dog, recognising men and women, or discerning a stag from a doe. This is one of the crucial factors in choosing the right thermal spotter, so we pushed that idea to its limit, from 20m to beyond 300m.

Pulsar Thermion 2 LRF XP50 Pro

We wanted to put the flagship of Pulsar thermal riflescopes through it’s paces, so on a warm spring day (where everything was at a similar temperature) we found a flock of woolly, insulated lambs spread across a large hilly field at different ranges. Of course our Thermion 2 LRF XP50 Pro was tripod mounted for this demo and no lambs were hurt in the making. And keep watching till the end, as there’s also a YouTube FIRST: a great feature that no one else has shown!
